Yoichi Wada: Square Enix Is Not Shutting Down Final Fantasy XI
By Jake Gaskill. G4 TV Staff on 02/22/2010 at 8:44am (UTC)

Final Fantasy XI players! Before you flip over another car and set it aflame, you need to know something: your beloved online RPG is not in fact shutting down as the Japanese interwebs would have you believe.

Word started to spread yesterday that Square Enix planned to shut down FFXI to make room for its next online RPG Final Fantasy XIV. But, according to Kotaku, Square’s Yoichi Wada has seen fit to end all of the cancellation talk via the following Twitter posting:

"There seems to be a rumor that FFXI is ending, but if that was done, we’d be in trouble.”

Granted, there will come a time when FFXI will end, but for now, players can rest easy knowing that their virtual world of choice won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
Anyone here still playing Final Fantasy XI? Do you think you'll give it up when FFXIV arrives?

The Art Of Video Games
Armando Garcia on 02/22/2010 at 4:05am (UTC)
Over the years I have notice a big leap in story telling in video games. Stories that suck you in and never let go..

Heavy Rain is a perfect example of how much games have come along. the story, the game play, the world itself is made to draw you in and make you part of that world.

Metal Gear Solid games is another that shows how much a game can leave a lasting impact on us. we get to know and even feel for that people in the game that we grow a bound with them. And when something happens it affects you deeply.

another prime example is Final Fantasy. these games like all the others have left a lasting impact on me. the death of Aerith was hard on me. it was to me heart felt point in the game that I could not help but to shed a tear. There have been lots of fans that I have known who played Final Fantasy VII that felt the same way.

Now I ask myself has gaming truly reach the point that they have become and are a art form?.. games does all this that I have mention and more. things that once was only felt with a Painting or a Sculpture. Or reading a good book that sucks you in.

The world must now see Gaming as not just a past time .. not just a toy that only Kids play with.. the world must now look at gaming as a art form and respect it.. and as time goes by the world will have no other choice. gaming is here and gaming has grown. Gaming is part of us all. .

New Year means another E3 is just around the corner
Armando Garcia on 02/22/2010 at 2:03am (UTC)
As a new year hits, some of us gamers wonder whats new to be shown at this years E3. I have to say that last year was a really big hit. it remind me of the classic E3. as a big show and all the big top guns of the game industry.

Co's like Sony, Microsoft & even Nintendo. has something to show. but the biggest bomb I think was Microsoft's Project Natal. A huge game changer in my eyes. yet I know some gamers would think that its just a gimmick and nothing else. but I see what Natal can do and what it could do. you have to admit that the demo of Milo shown at E3 was something to stop and Awe. Just think, you can have a conversation with a AI char in a game & it understanding you .. yea there where other demos but that one really blew my mind away.

So it got me thinking. what will they show at this years E3.. who will take the show this year?.. what will Microsoft show that will steal the show with there Project Natal?.
Will we find out how much will it cost?. what games will come out that you could use Natal on. And how will Sony & Nintendo do this year?.
what bag of tricks do they have coming?.. It is a most wonderful time to be a gamer.

There is a word going around that Twisted Metal will be making its return. tho there is no final word on that.. and what about Sony going the way of XBOX LIVE in having to pay for the survice?.. what will they do to want to make us pay?.. that we would have to wait and see ..

as for the Square Enix side of things ( I AM A HUGE FAN OF FINAL FANTASY XI ONLINE ). will there be a demo of FF XIV there?.. and will we Playstation 3 owners get a beta for it?.. I can't wait.. What about the old LinkShell that was used to talk in Final Fantasy XI.. Will it be back in XIV?. again we will have to wait. but one can only dream for now.
Till then....

See you all at E3...
